Recently, AJAC's EcoRun started alongside the announcement of the 2023 Canadian Green Car and Green Utility of the Year Awards. Hyundai caught the crowd's attention, winning both Green Car Awards. The Ioniq 5 earned the Green Utility Vehicle of the Year title, while the Ioniq 6 bagged the Green Car of the Year award.
AJAC's panel of approximately 50 voting journalists, who are association members, determined the winners of these categories. When picking the recipients for the Canadian Green Car and Utility Awards, the judges considered many factors, primarily fuel economy, range, efficiency, value, consumer appeal, sales potential, sustainability efforts in the supply chain, and the green technology incorporated in the vehicles.
The 2023 AJAC EcoRun presents a stage for a wide range of electrified and fuel-efficient cars to display their abilities. The participating journalists will discover the cars' capabilities by driving them along the picturesque drives of British Columbia while tracking and documenting the vehicles' efficiency. The journalist with the highest overall efficiency will earn the prestigious Green Jersey.
Evan Williams, AJAC Vice President, is thrilled about the EcoRun's turnout, stating that it allows leading automotive journalists to experience efficient new vehicles on a real-world road trip. He also expressed excitement over the vast selection of fully electric and plug-in hybrid models, catering to different sizes and price points. Williams is also eagerly looking forward to defending his Green Jersey title from last year's EcoRun.
